So my first science post for visiting friends (because who else would be here) will be this breaking news: Astronomers think they may have found the second body in the solar system with lakes. Titan.
The Cassini-Huygens missions is one of the single most exciting space missions today, IMHO. The joint NASA–ESA project has uncovered an unbelievable number of new discoveries including discovering the fourth body in the solar system to have geologic eruptions (Enceladus). The three others are, of course, the Earth, Jupiter’s Io and Neptune’s Triton.
If you’re looking for more cutting-edge astronomy excitement check out the Mars Exploration Rovers. These rovers demonstrate why NASA deserves it’s funding, and much more. If you ever have the chance to see the movie “Roving Mars“, please do.
